Roar Sound Effects

Roar sound effects at full volume. Red deer stags bellow across the hills in the autumn rut, the real sound behind plenty of film monsters. Dragons and dinosaurs open up too. And not every roar has a throat: fires roar as they take hold, and a medieval army roars as it charges.

A roar is a Growl with the throttle open. It's loud and long, usually rising to a peak and then breaking up as the breath runs out. Red deer are a favourite source, since a stag in the rut sounds enormous already, and pitched down it becomes a Dinosaur or a dragon with very little work. A Beast in a game needs several roar variations, so the player doesn't hear the same call over and over in a fight. The fire and crowd roars are a different kind entirely. They're steady walls of sound that build under a big moment.
