Monster Sound Effects

Monster sound effects from the scary end to the silly end. Big roars and wet snarls cover horror and fantasy, with dinosaurs stomping alongside. Then the cartoon kind. Goofy monster voices that grumble and giggle, made for kids' games and animation, where a monster has to be lovable rather than frightening.

A good monster voice is usually a real animal in disguise. Rutting stags are a favourite source, because their roars already sound like something prehistoric. Pitch them down, slide a Growl underneath and you're most of the way there. Horror monsters lean on breath and wet detail up close, while fantasy ones need size, so the Roar gets space and low end. In games the Attack call often matters more than the idle noise, because it tells the player to move. The cartoon side goes the other way entirely. Voice actors pull faces into the mic.
