Friction Sound Effects

Friction sound effects, the noise things make when they rub the wrong way. Metal dragged over metal until it shrieks, and ropes creaking under strain. Rocks grinding as they slide. Even metal bowls rubbed round the rim until they ring out. Slow pressure gives a groan and fast pressure gives a squeal, and most of it sets your teeth on edge.

Friction is good raw material. A slow Metal Scrape pitched down turns into a ship's hull groaning, and a fast Squeak can become a creature's cry. Rope under tension sells a bridge that's about to give. The libraries here cover a wide spread of surfaces, from metal moans and climbing rope to fabric and armour rubbing as a character moves. There's quieter stuff too, like dirt settling and ice grinding. Game teams lean on it for lifts and anything heavy being dragged, and horror uses it to make a room sound alive.
