Engine Sound Effects

Engine sound effects for anything with a motor and a mood. Cars and motorbikes idling and revving, recorded on board and out by the road, alongside race machines going flat out down the straight. There's a lot here. At the stranger end sit spaceship engines and hoverbikes, machines that don't exist yet but still have to sound believable.

You can tell whether a character drives a hero car or a clapped-out getaway motor without ever seeing it. That's the engine doing the storytelling. A smooth idle and an easy Engine Rev say money, while a sputter and a starter that won't quite catch say trouble. The recordings run from purring idlers to redlining screamers, and from golf carts to spaceships. Many come as full vehicle sets, so the Exhaust and the cabin match the car you're cutting. I've watched grown sound editors go quiet over a really well recorded diesel start-up. Don't pretend you haven't. Car chases and racing games run on this stuff, and so does a lot of sci-fi.
