Car Horn Sound Effects

Car Horn sound effects, from a polite little toot to a long, furious blast in traffic. Horns recorded on real cars, old and new, up close and from the street. Some come inside full car libraries with the doors and engine around them, others sit in busy city traffic where everyone's leaning on theirs. Short and rude, mostly.

A horn says a lot about the car it's fitted to. Vintage horns honk thin and nasal, while modern ones blare, and a Sports Car library often has a horn tucked in somewhere. The car libraries record the horn as part of the whole vehicle, alongside the engine and the door foley, so it matches the car you hear in the rest of the scene. Street recordings catch horns in context, blaring through jams. Social video kits add sillier honks for comedy edits. A quick tap reads as friendly. A long hold is road rage. Chase scenes and city ambiences both need plenty.
