Deceleration Sound Effects

Deceleration sound effects for everything slowing down. Cars lifting off the throttle and crackling on the overrun, and trains easing into a station with the brakes hissing. Wind through an open window fading as the car slows. Spaceships winding down. Even tiny clockwork gears running out of puff.

Deceleration gets less attention than acceleration, but it's where a lot of the character lives. Lift off a performance engine and it crackles and pops through the Exhaust, all spit and bang. Downshifting adds blips as the revs jump between gears. Many car libraries record runs both ways, so the slow-down can follow straight on from the Acceleration you've just used. For a car pulling up outside, a gentle slow-down into idle is plenty. In a chase, it's the moment before the next corner.
