To capture these sounds, sound designer and recordist Martin Pinsonnault (Big Little Lies, Dallas Buyers Club) and the team at Sonomar amassed a collection of magnets – ranging from small watch batteries to large speaker magnets and a variety of metal objects. Using MKH-8040 microphones in an XY setup, Sonomar recorded numerous vibrations, collisions and resonances resulting from a wide range of magnetic intensity.
The high sample rate of 192kHz opens up limitless potential for pitching and processing, a feature that is masterfully exemplified by the designed sounds within the collection that are ready to use in your audio projects.
