CITY LIFE – CENTRAL AMERICA

City Life: Central America is a collection of sounds captured across 3 countries of Central America : Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

This library focus on city atmosphere, especially in street/cover markets, pedestrian areas, parks, and many more.

The sounds captured in Mexico show a more “modern” Spanish atmosphere, compared to the more “traditional” Maya’s markets of Guatemala, where the people speak a mix of Spanish and k’iche'(traditional Mayan language used in some parts of Guatemala)

From these 3 countries, we visited many cities (x10) to capture the exceptional urban soundscape of central America.

The record duration are around 6:00 min per take. For the cities, we used a discreet setup : Sennheiser AMBEO and an AB stereo setup with x2 Sennheiser MKH 8040.

Each sound recording is located with a GPS coordinate and a full soundminer metadata.

The Sennheiser AMBEO is an ambisonic microphone, that can be decoded in many different formats (binaural, 7.1, 5.1, stéréo, mono, etc…) for decoding you can use the Harpex plugin or the free Soundfield/Rodes plugin.

-The Full sound bank (Stereo + Surround/Ambisonic) contains 71 sound takes recorded in 24/96khZ and with 267 files

-The stereo sound bank contains only the stereo files (119 files).

-23 sound takes recorded in Mexico’s cities.
-33 sound takes recorded in Guatemala’s cities.
-15 sound takes recorded in Nicaragua’s cities.

-15 sound takes recorded in pedestrian area.
-7 sound takes recorded inside church.
-6 sound takes recorded on roof area.
-4 sound takes recorded in bus station area.
-2 sound takes recorded in street area.

-> We went record in this different cities : Mazatlan, Guadalajara, Oaxaca, San Cristobal, San Francisco El Alto, Totonicapan, Panajachel, Antigua, Esteli, Granada.

-The Full sound bank (Stereo + Surround/Ambisonic) contains 71 sound takes record in 24/96khZ and decline in 267 files :

-70 B Format (AmbiX) files, for use directly in 360° movies or VR applications, or to be decode in many differents formats (binaural, 7.1, 5.1, stéréo, mono, etc…) for decode it you can use the Harpex plugin or the free Soundfield/Rodes plugin.
-4 DMS files, to be decode in many differents formats (5.1, stéréo, mono, etc…) for decode it you can use the Harpex plugin or the free Shoeps plugin.
-74 5.0 files, directly decoded from the native A Format from the Sennheiser AMBEO microphone or decoded from DMS setup using Sennheiser MKH 8040-30.
-70 2.0 (stereo) files, directly decoded from the native A Format from the Sennheiser AMBEO microphone.
-49 2.0 (stereo) files, recorded in AB, with x2 Sennheiser MKH 8040 or decoded from MS setup using Sennheiser MKH 8040-30.
