Mace sound effects come from the blunt end of medieval combat. A mace doesn't slice. It swings heavy and dents whatever's in the way, so you want weight in the whoosh and a proper crunch on contact. Here that means heavy swings and impacts on armour and shields, with the gory follow-through when it lands on something softer.
Mace sounds usually come inside bigger melee sets alongside swords and hammers. That's handy. A mace and a war hammer share most of their sound, and an Axe impact pitched down with the edge taken off gets close too. The gore libraries add the wet, bone-breaking layer, built from smashed fruit and veg. For the rest of a battle, the siege and warfare sets bring Armour foley and battle cries. RPGs and medieval films use it all.
