Sounds from Japan

Sounds From Japan is a curated collection of field recordings captured during a three-month stay across Japan : Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Tsukuba.

Recording was never the primary goal of the trip — these sounds were collected organically, in moments of heightened acoustic awareness. As a result, the library offers an authentic, unforced snapshot of everyday and unique Japanese soundscapes.

The collection includes recordings from pachinko parlors, busy city streets, quiet residential suburbs, vending machines, race tracks, trains and metro systems, sacred places, and more — spanning both the intensity of urban life and the calm of more intimate environments.

All files were recorded at 48 kHz and 96 kHz using a Sony PCM-M10 with a Rode NT5 stereo setup. The sounds are lightly cleaned and precisely trimmed, with no EQ, compression, or processing, preserving their natural character and making them flexible for sound design, film, games, and music production.

This library is designed for creators seeking genuine, location-based recordings with a strong sense of place and realism.
