Wiper Sound Effects

Wiper sound effects from real cars, inside and out. The motor whirring as the blades sweep, and rubber thudding at the end of each stroke. Then the squeak. That dry one, when there's not quite enough rain on the glass. Recorded in old executive saloons and small hatchbacks, an off roader and an electric city car.

Wipers set the pace of a car scene. A slow, steady sweep says a long night drive, and a frantic fast setting says a storm and a driver under pressure. Inside the car they come through the glass as a soft thump and whirr, while outside you get more of the rubber on the screen. These come from full car recordings, so the wipers sit with the Window motors and the Handbrake from the same car, which keeps a cabin consistent. Rain on the roof finishes the job.
