Synthesis Sound Effects

Synthesis sound effects, made rather than recorded, or a bit of both. Synthesised bit-speak voices for game characters, a robot voice, drones and abstract ambiences. Then the hybrids. Electromagnetic signals and factory machinery pushed through synthesis until they come out as sci-fi explosions, cyberpunk textures and steampunk machines, plus horror jump scares built from synthesised layers and distorted screams.

Synthesis earns its place where a microphone can't go. A spaceship drive or a Cyberpunk city at night has no real source to record, so it has to be built, and these libraries come with the parts already made. The drones and Abstract ambiences sit under sci-fi and horror as beds. The explosions and jump scares do the hits. Shepard tones seem to rise forever, which suits a tension build that never peaks. The bit-speak voices let game characters chatter away without a single real word. Hybrid sets, part recording and part synthesis, are handy when a designed effect has to share the screen with ordinary foley.
