Purr Sound Effects

Purr sound effects from house cats up to big cats, and a bear. Long purrs from expressive cats in every mood, a cat at the vet (with some purring thrown in to recover), baby tigers going from gentle purrs to proper growls, and the heavy chuffs of grown tigers. Even grizzlies purr, it turns out.

A purr is mostly texture, a low steady flutter that's felt as much as heard, which makes it hard to record well. Get too close and you hear the breath. Too far and it vanishes. The cat recordings catch it alongside meows and hisses, so a whole cat scene can come from the same animals, angry Growl and all. The big cats were captured at very high resolution, so a Tiger purr or chuff can be pitched down into something enormous without falling apart, which makes them a good starting point for dragons and beasts. Bear purrs and mouth sounds take that idea further still.
