Licking Sound Effects

Licking sound effects, wet and a bit too close for comfort. Cats and dogs licking and eating, the odd big cat licking its chops, and close tongue foley that sits right on the microphone. Gross in the best way. It's what sells a pet scene, a creature feeding, or a cartoon character smacking their lips after something tasty.

Licking sounds are mostly tongue, saliva and a bit of breath, so they need a close microphone and a quiet room to come out clearly. Dogs lap. Cats rasp, because their tongues are rough. The animal recordings here often come with neighbours like Eating and Purr, so a whole feeding moment can come from the same animal. For monsters, the wet tongue foley layers nicely under a Growl. Written down, a lick usually comes out as slurp, which is about right.
