Pass By Sound Effects

Pass By sound effects for anything that comes at the mic and keeps going. Cars and motorbikes at speed, trams and steam trains, a boat across a lake and a skier carving past. Bullets whizzing by. Then the made-up side: spaceships and hoverbikes streaking through. The Doppler drop is the whole point, and there's plenty of it.

A good pass-by is recorded with the mic standing still and the source doing the work, so speed and distance shape everything: the build, the peak as it crosses, the pitch falling away behind it. Different speeds give different scenes. A slow pass sells a car park, a fast pass sells a chase. Car sets here usually pair pass-bys with Acceleration, Deceleration and onboard takes, so a car can drive into frame and the shot can cut inside without the engine changing character. For sci-fi, the designed craft pass with the same physics, only stranger. Bullet whizz-bys come airy or tonal, and they make a firefight feel like it's happening around the listener instead of in front.
