Howl Sound Effects

Howl sound effects for wind and for animals, with plenty of both. Wind howling under doors and through gaps in the windows, or tearing through a forest in a storm. Then the living kind: dogs howling and growling, coyotes, monsters and ghostly voices for horror. Some are raw recordings, others designed. It's a cold, lonely sound either way.

A wind howl needs something to howl through. Out in the open, wind mostly rushes, and it's doors, window frames, chimneys and attics that turn it into a moan or a Whistle. That's why the interior wind recordings are so useful for horror and drama: they put a house around the storm. For bigger moments, the designed wind sets push a howling Gust all the way up to full hurricanes. Animal howls change with distance too. A dog howling close by sounds like the family pet, while the same howl pushed back into reverb becomes something out on the moors that nobody wants to meet.
