Destruction Sound Effects

Destruction sound effects for when everything has to come down. Buildings collapsing, walls blown apart, glass shattering, timber piles giving way. Explosions of every size, from an urban blast to a tank going up. A flamethrower for the finishing touch. Most of it is recorded for real, with the debris tails left intact.

Destruction is all in the tail. The bang lasts a split second, but the Debris raining down afterwards tells the audience how big it was. That's why good destruction libraries record the whole thing, long enough to let the dust settle. Layering helps. A designed boom gives the weight, while a real recording gives the detail. Glass needs its own layer, and Glass Break recordings at different intensities cover it. Strategy and survival games use the smaller pieces for buildings taking damage, while films and trailers reach for the big set pieces.
