Compressor Sound Effects

Compressor sound effects from the places compressors live, mostly basements and worksites. Ventilation and water pipes in underground corridors, heavy machinery and power tools on site. Steady background machinery. The strangest of all are electromagnetic recordings of electric motors, with compressors and pumps starting up and shutting down.

Compressors rarely get a close-up. They sit in the background of a scene, cycling on and off, and plenty of these libraries treat them that way, as part of a space. The basement recordings come in surround and stereo with Ventilation, pipes and distant doors, and the construction collection covers everything from home repairs to large worksites. Air tools are close cousins, with more in Pneumatic. The electromagnetic set goes the other way entirely. It records the electrical field of working motors on ships and in industry, so a compressor becomes an electrical texture rather than a mechanical one, good for sci-fi engine rooms and tense machine scenes.
