Rome – Urban City Surround

Rome – Surround Sound City is a library of surround sound environments, filled with unique ideas and fragments that can be extracted to tell the story of a chaotic and noisy city like Rome through sound.

The recordings were made using five discrete microphones and the INA-5 recording technique (and in some cases QUAD IRT CROSS). These soundscapes are suitable for creating an immersive audio experience, particularly within a cinema hall, providing a realistic listening experience and a sense of the space surrounding the listener.

The recordings were captured over a period of approximately two years, encompassing different seasons, various times of day and night, the outskirts, the city center, and the vibrant nightlife of young people.

The “Rome – Surround Sound City” library focuses on the streets and traffic, the chatter of Romans, scooters, fans cheering in front of a pub, a car protest celebrating Roma’s victory, tram passages, scooters on cobblestones, and elderly ladies chatting in front of a bar… Rome… It’s a library designed to depict the urban environment in various parts of the city, from the city center to the outskirts.

All the files have been edited in Pro Tools and metadata edited via soundminer.
They also include photos/artwork and have been renamed using the UCS method.
