Torpedo Sound Effects

Torpedo sound effects for the sea and for space. Underwater, there are torpedoes moving through the water, muffled blasts, bubbles and currents, alongside submarines and the rest of a naval war. Up in space, sci-fi torpedoes whoosh past with the spaceships and lasers. Either way, something big is about to go bang.

Underwater, a torpedo is felt as much as heard: a low run of motor and bubbles, then a thud that shakes the hull rather than a clean bang. For a war film or a naval game, the military vehicle libraries put torpedoes next to Submarine and Missile recordings. The underwater recordings give the in between bits, the currents and bubbles that make the depth believable, and an explosion set includes proper underwater torpedo blasts. In sci-fi the torpedo is more of a whoosh streaking past, with a ship's intercom voice calling out the warnings.
