Tide Sound Effects

Tide sound effects for the sea on its way in and out again. Calm days bring gentle tides along the beach. Storms bring the rest, churning tides and crashing waves with the wind gusting through it all. Rivers and streams sit alongside, and some of these coasts are recorded in ambisonics, so the shoreline can wrap right round a scene.

Tides change slowly, so most of these recordings are long coastal ambiences rather than single events. The calm side has gentle tides on a Beach, with rivers and streams alongside. The storm side is where it gets heavy. A violent storm recording brings churning tides and crashing waves, with separated Wave clashes for hits that need to land on a cut. Hurricane recordings push it further still. Some sets add a working farm beside the sea, with sheep and gusting wind, which places a coast somewhere real rather than on a postcard. They suit seaside dramas and island games, and they're royalty-free.
