Terrain Sound Effects

Terrain sound effects for whatever is underfoot or under the wheels. Footsteps run from concrete to swamp, from soldiers in boots and kit to civilians walking and creeping about. Off-road driving covers rough ground from inside and out, and further off, gunfire and explosions roll through valleys. Even the landscape gets a sound.

Footsteps sell terrain faster than anything else. The soldier and civilian sets keep it consistent, with the same boots crossing several surfaces at a Walk and at a run. The soldier takes come with the rattle of kit. Swamp footsteps add runs and jumps through wet mud, and there are separate sets for grass and snow. Vehicles need the ground too, with off-road recordings that move between road and rough terrain at several distances. Then there's the land shaping the sound itself, as distant gunfire and explosions roll across valleys with a long Reverberation. That suits the horizon of a war film or the far edge of an open-world map.
