Swoosh Sound Effects

Swoosh sound effects, the lighter, quicker cousin of the whoosh. Thin swipes and airy fly-ins for titles and menus, sword cuts and arrows zipping past, fireballs flaring by, spaceships streaking across the frame. Some sound real, most are designed. A good swoosh is over almost before you notice it, and that's exactly the job.

Swoosh and Whoosh overlap a lot, but a swoosh is usually shorter and thinner, closer to a Swipe than a big rush of air. That makes it ideal for motion graphics and interface panels sliding in. Fantasy and anime sets add a little sparkle or a tonal tail, handy for magic moves and special attacks. The sci-fi ones get pitch and doppler on top. Keep them tight to the picture. Late, a swoosh feels sloppy. Right on the frame, it feels expensive.
