Slash Sound Effects

Slash sound effects for blades that connect. Sword and axe swings, cuts and stabs into flesh, gore with plenty of tearing, and cloth ripped where a blade catches a shirt. There are retro game slashes too, made on a classic handheld's sound chip. Messy work. It suits fantasy RPGs and horror alike, along with medieval battles where whole armies charge.

A slash is the swing and the contact, close together, and the melee libraries record those separately so each can be timed to the animation. A Sword, a hammer and an axe all get their own swings and impacts. Then comes the gore. Bone crunches and flesh tearing sit in the horror libraries, with more of the pointy end in Stab. For something cleaner, a cloth tear under the swing sells a hit without any blood at all. The retro libraries go the other way entirely, with chip sounds for weapons and power-ups that suit pixel art games.
