Rock Sound Effects

Rock sound effects, the stone kind. Boulders crashing down with small stones skittering after them. Rocks hurled at a quarry face and struck with hammers and steel bars. Footsteps picking their way over rocky ground, and whole buildings collapsing into rubble. Heavy and dusty. Good for landslides and cave-ins.

Rock sounds come down to size and surface. A boulder landing is a deep, short thud that you feel, while a handful of Pebble stones gives you a bright, clattering scatter. Most good rockfalls use both. The quarry recordings help here, with rocks thrown against bigger rocks at different strengths, and the rock libraries add tumbles and slides for paths that give way. Destruction sets bring building collapses and Debris, which helps when the rock is really concrete and brick. Footsteps on rocky ground cover the quieter moments. Adventure games and disaster films get the most from all of it.
