A quiet room still has a sound, and dialogue cut without it leaves holes. The quiet spaces here were recorded with people in them, breathing and moving slightly, for the shot where someone is listening and the room has to stay alive. Hotels give the most choice, from guest rooms and the Lobby to corridors with an Elevator moving behind the walls, recorded late at night and early in the morning. The night streets catch a city at its emptiest. For something stranger, the caves have dripping water and a meditation bowl resonating in the dark.
