Hotel Sound Effects

Hotel sound effects for the quiet bits between the action. Corridors late at night. Guest rooms with the ventilation ticking over and a faint electrical buzz, lobbies with voices somewhere off, the lift on the move. Then the room itself: the door, the light switches, a bathroom fan and the toilet flush. The hotels come from cities all over the world.

Most hotel scenes need a Room Tone before anything else, and that's what the bulk of these are: clean, low-noise interiors, many recorded late in the evening and through the night when the building is at its quietest. Each kind of space gets its own. Some sets go further, with the Elevator and impulse responses from a stairwell, so dialogue can be placed in the same space. Put a guest room tone under a phone call and add a light switch, and the scene has checked in. The lobbies, with distant voices and a little traffic outside, suit arrivals and late-night conversations at the desk.
