Processing Sound Effects

Processing sound effects for computers working something out. Data readouts, loading, bleeps and processing tones, in futuristic and retro styles, with typing sequences to go with them. Holographic HUDs and corrupted screens sit alongside. Then there's processing of the heavy kind, inside factories that handle cement and rock, for when the thing being processed weighs a lot more than a file.

Processing sounds fill the gap between a command and the answer. A character asks the ship's computer for something, the Data starts moving, and a run of readouts and processing tones carries the wait until the result comes up on the Display. Then a beep to say it's done. Some sets mix synthetic and organic sources, and they come in futuristic and retro flavours, so a scanner on a starship and a clunky old terminal both get their own sound. The robotic creature sets use similar technological elements in their voices and movement. On the industrial side, the cement and rock recordings suit documentaries and any scene set on a factory floor.
