Lake Sound Effects

Lake sound effects, gentler than the sea and full of small detail. Waves lapping at rocky shores, with birds calling across the surface. An outboard motor puttering past on a small boat. Underwater too, with bubbles and currents. Calm, mostly. The kind of water that lets everything else around it be heard.

Lake water is all about scale. Small waves have a quick, light lap, nothing like the long roll of the Ocean, and the shore makes a big difference, with pebbles hissing and rocks slapping. The recordings come from lakes across Europe and further east, at different distances from the edge. Layer in birds or summer insects and the scene comes alive. Close Splash recordings help with people wading or rowing out. Nature documentaries and calm game levels use these a lot.
