Track Sound Effects

Track sound effects, both the kind that clanks and the kind you race on. Tank and excavator tracks grinding over the ground link by link, with the squeal of the drive wheels. Then the racing side, speedway bikes sliding round the bends and bobsleds rattling down the ice at frightening speed. Steam trains on the rails count too.

Tank tracks are instantly recognisable, a heavy clank and squeal that tells an audience armour is coming before it's on screen. The military recordings here include a wartime German tank and a cold war artillery vehicle, recorded inside and out, with the engine and the Turret as well as the tracks. Some put you Onboard, which is a very loud place to be. Excavators give a slower, civilian version on a building site. On the racing side, track means the surface. Speedway dirt and an ice run each have their own sound, recorded trackside at speed. War films and strategy games need the clank, and racing games need the rest.
