Siren Sound Effects

Siren sound effects for emergencies, real and imagined. Police cars and ambulances wail past at different distances, close enough to feel or faint across town. City nights. Sirens drifting in through an apartment window, far off behind the traffic. Then sci-fi alarms, howling down spaceship corridors when everything starts going wrong.

Distant sirens are the shorthand for a big city at night, so they turn up in countless backgrounds, layered under Traffic and street noise. Close passes need Doppler, the pitch dropping as the vehicle goes by, which is why recordings at several distances matter. An Ambulance and a Fire Truck each have their own pattern, and both change from country to country, so it pays to match the siren to where the story is set. Sci-fi alarms borrow the same rising and falling shape for spaceship emergencies.
