Owl Sound Effects

Owl sound effects from real woods at night, and a few from a toy whistle. Owls calling in forests after dark, owls among the woodpeckers and blackbirds of a spring dawn, and night-time ambiences of quiet suburbs and eerie woods. Then the cheeky ones. Bird call whistles doing owl hoots for cartoons.

An owl call does a lot of work in a night scene. The forest recordings were made away from people, with owls calling at night and a Woodpecker taking over by day, so a location can run round the clock. The night ambiences go wider, from suburbs to eerie forests, with wildlife and distant church bells, which suits horror and a lonely walk home. For an owl that has to land on a cut, there are single bird calls as well, owls among crows and hawks. The toy whistles are another thing entirely: owl hoots and a Cuckoo, made for cartoons and animation.
