Mallet Sound Effects

Mallet sound effects, where the stick matters as much as the thing it hits. Gamelan gongs struck and scraped. Singing bowls in metal and crystal, and mallet strikes on a piano. There's a tank drum too. A soft head and a hard head give very different results, so the variety here earns its keep.

Most of these are strikes on metal. Gamelan gongs come first, recorded through several microphones and treated to scraping and spinning as well as the mallet. Bells and singing bowls follow, in different sizes, metal and crystal, and the rich, evolving tone after the Strike is the point of them. The piano gets its metallic strings struck with a metal mallet, and the rubber mallets get dragged across glass and wood. They suit temples and meditation scenes, and the raw strikes make good source for magic and sci-fi design.
