This library material was recorded in two long sessions – one at home and on the foley stage.
Countless metallic objects were used, including knives, screwdrivers, shovels, other tools, old refrigerator, coins, chains, guitars, springs, bullet casings, ventilation ducts, sheet metal, steel furniture, trays, pots, kitchen sink, bathtub, etc. Some of these props were heated with a gas torch for livelier ice-metal interaction. Large blocks of dry ice were used as well as small granules. At the end of the second session, all the remaining ice was dumped into a bathtub of warm water to record its bubbling.
The microphones used were AKG c414xls, Neumann U87Ai, Nevaton MK-50’s. Recorders: SD722, Tascam HS-P82. All captures in 24/96.
