Here is a collection of recordings of from an analogue rotary telephone. Recorded using different mics in various different states of assembly to get different textures from the phone. Originally this started out as a mic comparison experiment but turned into something a bit more. In the library you’ll find pretty much every switch, click and clang the phone makes as well as drops and receiver ups and downs. All recorded either with Neumann TLM 103, Sennheiser 418s or cold gold contact mic into a Sound Devices 744t at 96Khz/24Bit.
Many of the sounds verbs performed multiple times to different mics so if you can’t find the sound you’re looking for from one take look for it from another mic. Also note that the recordings of the phone without the cover gives a closer perspective on the mechanics of the phone.
