Railway Sound Effects

Railway sound effects from the platform and from inside the carriage. Steam locomotives chugging and hissing, plus passenger and freight trains approaching and passing. Busy stations full of walla. Long ambisonic recordings in places. And a view from underneath: an underpass with water flowing and trains going over.

The steam recordings are the most complete. Whistles and chugging come with cab work and depot activity, and the pass-bys are taken from different spots along the line, some in ambisonics, which covers a Locomotive from the cab to the lineside. Elsewhere there are station ambiences and carriage interiors. Long exterior takes catch trains moving through. Approaches and horn blasts are here too, with more of those in Train Horn. A level crossing and some distant trains fill in the edges. They suit period dramas and any town with a line running through it.
