Melee Sound Effects

Melee sound effects for fights at arm's length. Swords, axes, hammers and clubs swung and clashed, plus the bare hands side with punches and body hits. Then the extras. A whoosh for the swing, a crunch or a squelch where it lands, cloth moving, blades going back in the sheath. A lot of it is cut for games, where the same swing gets played over and over and needs variations.

A good melee hit is usually layered, the contact on top and something low underneath for weight. These libraries give you those pieces separately, so a Sword clash can sit on a heavy whoosh and a dull thud without a fight. Some sets come straight off a foley stage. Others are designed and pushed harder for fantasy. The hand-to-hand side covers punches, body hits, slams and fast flurries, the same ground as Punch, and there are battle recordings with voices and charges for the wide shot. Brawlers and film fights both lean on this, and both want plenty of variations so the hits never start to repeat.
