Mag In Sound Effects

Mag In sound effects, the magazine going home. Recorded on real pistols, submachine guns and rifles as part of each gun's foley, with the mag out and dry fire around it. Short and mechanical. Many sets come raw and cleaned, and the firing beside them runs from single shots to bursts at several distances.

A reload is usually a handful of moves, the Mag Out, the mag in, then the slide or the charging handle. The mag in is the one that has to sound locked. These come from the same guns as the gunshots, so the reload and the next shot belong to the same weapon. Some sets record the foley both naturally and in a studio, which gives a choice between grit and clean detail. The rifle recordings go further on the mechanics, with close microphones on the moving parts. For the empty moment after the last round, there's Dry Fire.
