Intercom Sound Effects

Intercom sound effects, mostly the announcing kind. Crew announcements come over the cabin speakers while voices break through on metro trains and the airport terminal hums away around them, all of it recorded on location. Then the sci-fi end. A ship's computer reads out warnings and status updates with a bit of glitch on it. Door buzzers? Not really, to be honest.

What makes an intercom sound like an intercom is the speaker, not the voice. Small, boxy, cut off at both ends, often with a hum underneath. The cabin and train recordings have that built in because they were captured on location, so they drop straight into a Terminal or carriage scene. The sci-fi voice lines go the other way, processed commands and alerts for a starship or Mothership bridge. And if you're building your own, a buzzing lamp or a bit of fluorescent hum makes a convincing bed.
