Flag Sound Effects

Flag sound effects for cloth in the wind. On a windy marina the sails flap and the ropes and masts clank while gusts work between the boats, and there's fabric being handled: shaken, slapped, scratched and torn. A golf course turns up too, with game whooshes for motion graphics and narrator voices for strategy games, the sort that announce a mission complete.

A flag is really a wind sound. Light air gives a lazy ripple, and a strong gust turns it into a hard crack of cloth. At the marina you get that wind working through sails and rigging, with ropes clanking on the masts, which suits harbour scenes, castle walls and anywhere a banner should be moving. For close shots, the fabric foley lets you shake and snap cloth in sync with the picture. In games a flag is often the objective, and the narrator lines are ready to call a Target within range or a mission won. The golf collection covers the other kind of flag, the one on the green.
