Feedback Sound Effects

Feedback sound effects, mostly the interface kind: the click or chirp that tells a player their press actually did something. Selects, confirms, toggles and errors for games and apps. Every press needs an answer. A few industrial and electrical recordings hum in the background too. The screaming microphone howl is a different sort of feedback altogether.

Good UI feedback is felt more than heard. It has to be short and consistent, and different enough between actions that a player can tell a confirm from a cancel with their eyes shut. That's why menu libraries come as families: a select, a confirm, an Error and a back, all built from the same material so the whole Menu feels of a piece. Styles run from clean modern taps to chunky RPG menus. Keep the most repeated sounds the quietest. A navigation tick heard all session long should never get annoying.
