Battle Sound Effects

Battle sound effects with real crowds of people in them. Large groups of actors charging and shouting across open fields, recorded outdoors so the space is real. Swords clashing and horses thundering past. Explosions for the bigger wars, and card game battles with spells and hits. It gets messy. Nobody tidies a battlefield.

A battle that sounds big needs real voices. A few actors layered up never quite match a genuine crowd, so the best Medieval battle libraries put a big group of people in a field and record them charging and retreating from several mic positions. Many come as stems, with voices and weapons kept apart so you can push either. Single shouts and death screams fill in the foreground, the bits a player hears up close. Add a Catapult for siege scenes. Historical dramas and strategy games lean on these.
