Afterburner Sound Effects

Afterburner sound effects for when a fighter jet lights the fire. A ripping, crackling roar on a full power takeoff, then low passes overhead that shake the ground. Very loud. Military jets recorded from the runway and the airshow crowd, from the moment the engine spools up to the flyby.

An afterburner dumps extra fuel into the exhaust, and you can hear it: a harsh, crackling layer on top of the jet's normal roar, closer to a blowtorch than an engine. From the side it arrives as a pop and then a long tearing rumble that rolls on after the plane has gone. Pair a Takeoff with a Fighter pass for a full scramble sequence. The cockpit recordings give you the pilot's side of it.
