Yarn Sound Effects

Yarn sound effects from a tufting gun punching it into a rug. Repetitive thuds as each tuft goes in, over a constant whirr and buzz, with mechanical clunks along the way. Short bursts and long runs, continuous or stop and start. Oddly satisfying. Craft videos and workshop scenes are its natural home.

Tufting is loud for a craft, and the motor side of it carries on in Whirring. The gun fires yarn through the backing cloth over and over, so it sounds part sewing machine, part nail gun. That repetition makes it useful well beyond rugs: slowed or pitched, it turns into factory machinery or a strange creature tapping away inside a wall.
