Stutter Sound Effects

Stutter sound effects chop a sound into rapid repeats, so it trips over itself before it lands. Deliberately broken. Here that means glitch bursts and broken signals from computers and tired analogue gear, plus stuttering whooshes built for transitions. Horror uses the effect to make something feel wrong, while trailers and video edits use it to snap a cut into place.

A stutter is usually made by slicing a sound into tiny pieces and repeating them, sometimes speeding the repeats up or slowing them down so the sound stumbles in or out. The Glitch recordings here come ready made, from computers misbehaving and signals breaking up, and the lo-fi horror sets add tape decay and voltage Distortion for a nastier edge. Not everything is digital. Some stutters come from real machinery catching and grinding, which gives a looser, more physical feel. Editors drop them on cuts and title cards, and game teams use them for corrupted screens and teleports. Horror leans on them whenever a ghost flickers into frame.
