Streetcar Sound Effects

Streetcar sound effects, the bell and squeal kind. Old trams grinding round tight corners with the bell clanging, then the electric whine as one pulls away. You get them from the kerb and from a seat on board. Some come wrapped in the city around them, down by the water or up steep hills. Lovely and rattly.

A streetcar sits between a bus and a train, and it sounds like it: steel wheels on rails set into the road, plus plenty of creaking from the older ones. The libraries here mix vintage cars with modern Subway trains, and there's more of the same in Tram. Some city ambiences have a tram rumbling through in the background. That bit is handy. A passing tram tells the audience which city they're in faster than a caption, which is why period films and travel pieces use them.
