Shout Sound Effects

Shout sound effects from real voices pushed hard. Battle cries from a charging army and effort shouts for every punch and jump. Soldiers barking orders over a crackly radio. Then the happy kind, with football crowds roaring and kids cheering at something brilliant. Loud. A good shout carries emotion instantly, which is why games go through so many.

Shouts sound most real when the actor is moving or straining, and a lot of these were recorded that way, with breath and a Grunt around the shout. Male and female sets cover attacks and injuries, so a character's Pain sounds like the same person who was yelling a moment ago. Crowds work differently. A stadium shout is a mass of voices smearing into a roar, and the football and battle recordings capture it from inside the crowd. Kids and cartoon characters give a lighter, sillier version, yelling in surprise or delight. Radio shouts are the odd ones out, squashed and crackly, which suits a firefight heard over comms. War films and sports games both need plenty.
