Nitro Sound Effects

Nitro sound effects live on the boost button. In a racing game that's a hard whoosh of extra power, the engine jumping and the exhaust spitting as the car surges forward. In sci-fi it's a thruster kicking in. You'll find both: rally cars flat out and spaceships boosting, plus a little scooter that happens to be called Nitro.

Real nitrous makes a sharp hiss when the system purges, but the boost itself is mostly the engine working harder. That's why game sounds usually layer it: a hiss or a whoosh on the button press, then the engine pushed to the limit. The Rally Car recordings cover the engine side, with hard revving, idles and flat out pass-bys from service areas and live rallies. The sci-fi libraries handle the other kind, where a ship lights its thrusters and goes. Arcade racers use the mix most.
