Electric Vehicle Sound Effects

Electric Vehicle sound effects, and no, they aren't silent. Electric SUVs and crossovers are recorded onboard and passing by, with the propulsion and tyre noise captured. A tiny electric microcar brings regenerative braking sweeps. A plug-in hybrid runs in electric mode. Then the smaller stuff: golf carts and a mobility scooter.

With no engine to hide behind, detail does the work, and the recordings here cover plenty of it. The microcar comes with high-frequency driving loops recorded from separate perspectives, and the crossovers cover propulsion and pass-bys at different speeds. Several libraries follow the same pattern of driving and foley, plus mechanical and electrical sounds, so the cabin foley and the drive can come from the same car. Golf Cart recordings and electric scooters cover the small end, with Hybrid close by for cars that switch between power sources. The plug-in hybrid here was recorded in electric mode on different road surfaces, which suits a quiet city scene.
