Dispatch Sound Effects

Dispatch sound effects put a voice on the other end of the radio. Police dispatch calls and replies, officers checking in from patrol, urgent shouts when things go wrong, all with that squashed radio sound. Then the tones: the real chirps and beeps a trunked police radio makes before anyone speaks. Clipped, and very believable.

The dialogue comes both dry and already run through a walkie talkie. The British radio recordings run from routine patrol calls to high pressure situations, and there are Megaphone takes for the street. The signal tones come from a real Swedish system, the kind of detail that makes a control room scene feel right. A little Radio Static under the voice finishes it off. Cop shows and open world games are full of it.
